Have you ever wondered why glycerin is such a popular ingredient in skincare natural products? Well, it turns out that this humble sweet-taste substance can do wonders to keep your skin hydrated and super soft while working as an acne treatment for oily skin and helping with dark spots… Is there anything this ingredient can’t do?

Well, to this amazing list of benefits we can add one more: glycerin for skin whitening. Yes, if you want to find a safe way to get fairer skin, look no further! Glycerin will be your go-to option from now on.

This natural ingredient is known for its skin-lightening properties and can be used in a variety of ways to achieve the best results.

In this blog post, we will discuss how to use glycerin for whitening uneven skin tone. So whether you want to use it as a face wash, moisturizer, or mask, we have you covered!

WTH is glycerin?

Before talking about all the ways you can use glycerin for skin lightening, you need to know what it is and how it works!

Glycerin is an odorless, colorless liquid that has a variety of uses and it’s safe for all skin types. It can be found in all kinds of products, from shampoo to soap to toothpaste. Glycerin is also an ingredient in some beauty products, including moisturizers and hand creams for dry skin.

One of the most common uses for glycerin is as a humectant. A humectant is a substance that helps keep things moist and draws water to something. That’s why pure glycerin, mixed with some other natural ingredients like rose water or aloe vera gel, is used to moisten skin, prevent water loss, and treat other skin problems.

Moreover, many people use glycerin to treat pimples and help with blackhead removal *aka ugly black dots* thanks to its antibacterial properties, which can also help with acne-related skin infections. Yes, we all know acne can be a major confidence booster, however, the antibacterial qualities in glycerin can help to reduce sebum without stripping your face from its essential oil.

Now, let’s get into business: glycerin is not only used to keep skin soft but also as a natural skin lightener since it can help to brighten the complexion and even out skin tone.

This is possible because glycerin works as an exfoliator that removes dead skin cells, meaning that it can reduce the appearance of dark spots, age spots, and blemishes, the culprits of making your skin look uneven. That’s why glycerin for skin whitening can be the solution you were looking for!

How to use glycerin for skin lightening

Is glycerin good for skin whitening? Yeeees!

There are many ways to use glycerin for skin: as an anti-ageing treatment, for scars in any affected region, as a make up remover…  But, if you're looking for a natural method to achieve brighter, more even-toned skin, applying glycerin may be worth trying.

Here is how you should use glycerin for skin whitening:

1. In skincare products

As mentioned before, you can find glycerin in many natural beauty products, from a toning solution and moisturizer to face masks and lip balms for chapped lips. In this sense, if you want to include glycerin products for face whitening, it is important to follow the instructions on the product label carefully and do a patch test before including it 100% in your routine.

In general, glycerin should be applied to clean, dry skin. It can be used once or twice daily, depending on the product label instructions.

Important: you can also add a few drops of glycerin to your skincare products, however, it is always better to stick to the already formulated products instead of messing with their chem.

2. As a face pack with skin whitening other ingredients

You can create a powerful face pack for skin whitening that includes a little glycerin. To create a glycerin pack for skin lightening, you can mix it with these ingredients *our favorites, btw*:

  • Rose water

Rose water has excellent properties which help to soothe and tone the skin. It also acts as a natural cleanser and helps to remove dirt, grime and makeup from the skin.

When rose water is used in combination with glycerin, it can help skin whitening by lighting the skin tone, reducing dark circles and spots, and making it look fairer.

  • Cucumber gel

Cucumber gel has cooling properties that help soothe irritation while glycerin helps to lighten the skin tone by getting rid of dead skin cells. This is a great home remedy for those who want to reduce the damage produced by sun tanning or pigmentation.

To do it, mix equal parts of cucumber gel and glycerin diluted in water, and apply the blend with a cotton ball in your face. Use this mixture daily to see results in just a few days.

  • Lemon juice

Another way to use glycerin for skin whitening is by mixing it with lemon juice. Lemon juice is rich in vitamin C which helps to brighten the skin tone. It also has bleaching properties which can help to lighten dark spots and pigmentation.

This recipe can be beneficial even for oily skin since the antibacterial qualities in both ingredients help with acne and blackheads.

However, if you are going to do this, remember to always dilute the lemon juice in cold water and then add a few drops of glycerin to keep your skin hydrated even when the lemon is super drying.

Note: always remember to use this mix only at night since lemon can increase sun sensitivity.

  • Banana

If you are looking for an amazing way to get the best of glycerin for skin whitening, then look no further than using it with a banana. This combination can work wonders on your skin and help you achieve a lighter complexion.

Bananas are not only delicious, but they are also full of antioxidants too, which can work wonders for face whitening.

To use this remedy, all you need to do is mash an overripe banana and mix it with half tablespoons of glycerin and honey. Then apply a thin layer of it on dry skin.

  • Besan

Besan or gram flour is a powerful natural cleanser that helps to remove dead skin cells and excess sebum from the surface of the skin. It also unclogs pores and helps to lighten the skin tone.

In this mixture glycerin acts, hand in hand with the besan pack, as a face whitening and moisturizing ingredient, making this mix a great mask for oily and acne-prone skin

To use, mix equal parts of glycerin and besan to form a paste. Apply this paste on your face and neck and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

  • Essential oil

Glycerin can also be used with an essential oil to lighten the skin tone, since essential oils like lavender oil, rosehip oil and jojoba oil are excellent for skin whitening.

To use, mix a few drops of glycerin and any of these essential oils. Put on a layer of this mixture on your face and leave it on for a few minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water

Important: avoid using comedogenic vegetable oils, like olive or sunflower oil, since they can clog your pores.

  • Milk cream

Our last glycerin cocktail!

This combination is perfect for those who want to achieve a lighter complexion without resorting to harsh chemicals or bleaching agents, like lemon.

Milk cream is super popular in India and for a good reason! This ingredient works as a cleanser that can purify clogged pores, that’s why, when mixed with glycerin, it can help to clean the skin while glycerin helps to lighten it.

To prepare this mixture, you just need to add a few drops of glycerin to milk cream and put it in your skin.

Important: applying glycerin with this cream may sound amazing, but this is not vegan-friendly *sorry v-friends*

3. Glycerin by its own

You can totally apply glycerin for skin without other face-pack ingredients!

In this case, you just need to use glycerin directly on your face. However, you need to know a few things:

  • Only use diluted glycerin for skin

Glycerin is a natural humectant which means it can attract water from the air and hold on to it, helping to maintain skin health.

However, because it does have this property, it also has to be diluted otherwise it will draw too much water from your skin cells and leave them dehydrated.

In this sense, you can mix glycerin with distilled water or any of the other face pack ingredients listed before, and make sure to use a product that is specifically oriented for your face.

  • Do a patch test first

If you're new to using glycerin on your skin, it's always best to do a test first. This will help you gauge whether or not your skin is sensitive to the ingredient.

To do a patch test, simply apply a small amount of glycerin to a small area of skin (like your forearm) and wait 24 hours to see if there's any irritation.

  • Beware, it can attract dust

If you leave in a dry, dusty environment, you should know that glycerin attracts dust to your skin, which can be a drawback for people that are pimple prone.
