What are sun spots on skin?

You know what they say - a spot of sunshine is good for the soul. But not all spots on your skin are quite so uplifting.

Enter sun spots (also known as solar lentigines, which is a way less fun name). These spots are caused by prolonged exposure to the sun's rays - which means they're a little reminder that maybe you should have worn sunscreen that one time at the beach. They're usually small, flat, and brown, and they're harmless (though always check with a dermatologist if you're not sure!).
